Kural 27 - Parimel azhagar urai

The analysis of Five Tanmatraas: Taste, Sight, Touch, Sound, Smell:

(5) Five tanmatraas are the cause for elements,
(5) Five elements which come from above
(5) Five Gnanedriyas correspondingly for each tanmatraa
(5) Five Karmendriyas
(20) in Total.

Since the term "analyst" is mentioned in the Kural, the association of the body. observing Purusha (Soul), and the instruments of maan (Universal Mind), ahamkaara (Ego), manas (Individual Mind), and the Primal Prakriti (Mother Nature), which is origin of these instruments can be inferred.

Knowing twenty-five aspects/ideas involves:

Since Mother Nature (Primal Prakriti) (1) does not have any prior cause, that can be classified as only Prakriti (cause), not as Vikruti (i.e., caused or effect);

From Mother Nature, the maan or Universal Mind (1) is caused; From Universal Mind, the ahamkaara or Ego (1) is caused; From Ego, Five Tanmaatraas or sensual energies (5) are formed. So, these seven which can be classified as both causating (Prakriti) as well as being caused (vikriti).

The manas or Individual Mind (1), Gnanedriyaas or Instruments of Perception (5), Karmendriyaas or Instruments of Action (5), and bhootaas or Elements (5) are formed by the above (Tanmaatraas). Since there are nothing get formed these sixteen, these can be classified as being caused (vikriti), not as cause.

Soul or Purusha (1), which is neither caused nor being a cause, is classified uniquely besides the above two categories.

Using the guidelines as mentioned in the texts of Sankhya, it is to be understood that the world is made up of these 25 aspects, nothing else. This understanding of the world as it is results in wisdom.

These last four Kurals (i.e., 24, 25, 26, 27) describe the basis for the Saints glory, namely Control of Five-senses (24, 25), Yoga Practice (24, 26), and Philosophical analysis (27).
